I have experience working at Lurie's Children's Hospital Inpatient Psychiatric Unit and Partial Hospitalization Program. I have worked at multiple private practice's in the Chicagoland area before opening MSC. After opening the practice I developed a successful Leadership Workshop focused on confidence, stress, and leadership for middle school girls. During the pandemic we had to cancel all of our in person workshops. I began posting mental health content on social media to help my community. Passionate about prevention work, I am honored to have a following of over half a million that I share mental health content with! I have been in mainstream media such as The New York Times, Good Morning America, Counseling Today and gave a Tedx Talk about Investing in Your Mental Health. This past year, I was asked to participate in a partnership with Harvard University regarding content creation and mental health prevention work. Lastly, I provide mental health trainings and talks to high school teams, colleges, classes, and more. I have consulted on therapeutic cases and corporate wellness programs.

I have a passion for helping adolescents and adults overcome obstacles, develop mental strength, and build meaningful relationships. I have a wide range of experience in agency, school and private practice settings. I am committed to listening to my clients in a compassionate non-judgemental manner so that together we can process your experiences, build skills and generate solutions. By understanding your established patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving we can identify what is keeping you stuck and discover new possibilities for your life. I am deeply connected to the challenges that accompany parenting and bring my clinical and personal experience into therapy. Having three children (elementary school, middle school and high-school-aged), allows me to better understand your parenting struggles. I have worked extensively with children diagnosed with ADHD, Anxiety, OCD, Depression and Autism, and believe that working with parents is an important part of the therapeutic process.

In my role as clinical director I provide supervison and support to all therapists. As a licensed clinical psychologist with over 10 years of experience providing specialized interventions for clients struggling with anxiety, mood disorders, peer relationships, ADHD, and trauma. My experience spans multiple settings, including high-risk outpatient, schools, private practice, and daycare facilities. In addition to providing therapy, I also have extensive experience conducting and interpreting psychological and neuropsychological assessments. Through a warm and collaborative approach, I work with my clients to bolster their existing strengths, help set boundaries, improve communication, and process the root of their emotional concerns. I utilize an evidence-based, integrative approach to psychotherapy and strive to provide a safe and non-judgmental space for my clients to explore their challenges and barriers.

In my 6+ years of clinical experience, I have seen one quote to be consistently true. That relationships are the agents of change. From forging strong, supportive connections with my clients and their families to creating spaces of openness and vulnerability in parent and child groups- this quote has guided me in helping the families I work with find peace and healing. In my clinical background working at Plena Mind Center, a PHP program designed to support high needs youth, I worked extensively with: ⭐️ Kids and teens who struggle with OCD, ADHD, Anxiety, Depression, externalizing behaviors, school refusal, self harm and suicidal thoughts. ⭐️ Parents to help manage intense behaviors, anxiety, depression, or OCD at home (ask me about Differential Attention or SPACE!) ⭐️ Schools to help advocate for the client’s needs. ⭐️ Parent and parent/child groups to help educate and foster a sense of community and belonging. I believe that the best kind of therapy incorporates creativity and fun and shows you every step of the way that you are not alone!

I am a psychologist specializing in evidence-based treatment for children and young adults with depression, anxiety, OCD, and behavior problems. I take a strength-based, collaborative approach to therapy focused on your family's values and goals. My approach is deeply relational and guided cognitive behavior therapy, parent-child interaction therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy. I am also currently a Research Assistant Professor at Northwestern University's Center for Dissemination and Implementation Science. My research interests include finding ways to increase youth access to mental health care and improving the effectiveness of mental health services.

I am devoted to helping adolescents, young adults, and adults with any hardships you’re having. I have diverse clinical experience in suicide prevention and have worked at multiple crisis hotlines. Clinically, at North Park Universities Counseling Services Center I had the opportunity to work with students from all different backgrounds through individual therapy. Students presented with a wide range of issues such as: anxiety, depression, trauma, transitional issues, self-harm, disordered eating, academic problems, identity, and self-esteem issues. It's my belief that the relationship with the client is the most important element to a successful and beneficial therapy experience. I vow to listen to every client in a non-judgmental manner and create a safe space to openly discuss your thoughts and emotions. Together we can strengthen your understanding of self, learn helpful coping strategies, and instill healing. I utilize several theories to best meet the goals of my clients, including a strong focus on Person-Centered, CBT, and DBT approaches. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, certified Parent Coach and currently completing training for certification through PSI (Postpartum Support International) in Perinatal Mental Health and Mood Disorders. I am dedicated to supporting mothers from all different stages, including early motherhood (prenatal/postpartum/toddlerhood), middle motherhood (school-aged children) and late motherhood (adult-aged children). While motherhood can bring up overwhelming feelings of love, joy and excitement, it is normal for these emotions to coincide with feelings of stress, anxiety, frustration and sadness. As your therapist, I will help you navigate the many feelings, experiences, and challenges motherhood has to offer in a safe and judgment-free space, where you feel free to be your most authentic self. Along with being an individual therapist, I also am running New Moms Support Groups for any new moms who are seeking connection and resources to navigate this new chapter in life. As a new mom myself, I personally understand the benefits of connecting with other new moms and learning tools to regulate our emotions during this very amazing and fragile time. Additionally, I am a certified Parent Coach through the Jai Institute of Parenting and provide parents with psycho-education, support and skills that empower them to create the change they wish to see in their relationship with their child and their parenting techniques. Creating a strong connection and trust in the therapeutic relationship with my clients is something that comes natural to me as a person and as a therapist. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Person-Centered Therapy models in my practice and tailor my approach to meet the unique individual needs of my client.

I am a mental health therapist with a wide variety of experiences including working in private practice providing individual therapy to children, teens, and young adults. My clinical experience includes working in an inpatient psychiatry unit at the Lurie Children’s Hospital as a Recreation Therapist and Milieu Therapist for children and adolescents with a wide variety of mental health needs and varying ability levels. I have experience working with children and adolescents with depression, anxiety, autism, and various behavioral challenges. Additionally, I have experience working with school-aged children in an after-school program as well as providing in-home behavioral therapy to children with autism. I completed my internship here at Main Street Counseling and now work here as an individual therapist. I treat every individual I work with compassion, empathy, and understanding. I aim to provide a safe space for my clients to help them better manage the specific challenges they are dealing with. My specific approach to therapy is modified based on the specific needs of the client however I consistently utilize a strengths-based approach to therapy. As a previous school social worker, my focus has been on providing essential support to students, ensuring their success within the academic setting. I have conducted comprehensive evaluations for Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and facilitated 504 evaluations, employing both qualitative and quantitative data collection methods. Additionally, I have actively participated in crisis management, risk assessments, and collaboration within the Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) framework. My work extended to delivering social work services to students in general education, involving close collaboration with families, teachers, administrators, and the wider community. I have gained valuable experience in private practice settings, assisting children, teenagers, and their families in navigating life stressors and experiences. Additionally, I interned with AMITA Health's addiction services and volunteered on a crisis hotline for individuals experiencing homelessness and suicidal ideation. I have worked closely with individuals dealing with various challenges, including ADHD, anxiety, autism spectrum disorder, depression, OCD, self-esteem issues, trauma, self-harm tendencies, adoption-related issues, divorce/separation, grief/loss, and more. Creating a warm and inviting environment for all my clients is of utmost importance to me. Recognizing that each client is unique, I tailor my therapeutic approaches to meet their individual needs. While drawing upon evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy, I also incorporate play therapy techniques when working with children. Integrating theories and practices aim to bring a safe space where everyone feels heard, respected, and supported. I completed my clinical internship for my master’s program at Ascend CHC where the focus of my work was working with individuals across the lifespan with eating disorders at an individual and Individualized Outpatient Program (IOP) level of treatment. I also have extensive experience conducting neuropsychological assessments. Prior to joining MSC, I have gained valuable experiences in the realms mental health, neuropsychology, personality disorders, neurocognitive disorders, and autism spectrum disorder As a Latine woman, I understand the stigmas that are associated with mental health. I believe that cultural competency is essential when working with individuals from different backgrounds. I strive to provide a safe, judgment-free, no shame, accepting, and positive therapeutic space for clients to grow and feel supported through an empathetic and collaborative approach. I truly believe that the relationship with the client is the most important element to a successful and beneficial therapeutic experience. I believe in meeting the client where they are at and fostering confidence and healing. I am a social worker who is committed to helping individuals work through short or long term difficulties. I have 4 years of experience working as a school social worker with children and teens of all ages. Throughout this time, I have worked collaboratively with students, parents, teachers, and the community to support the student’s social-emotional well-being and growth. While providing individual, group, and whole class services, I also conduct evaluations of students using both qualitative and quantitative data to determine if students need social work support in the school setting. The students I’ve served exhibit a variety of strengths and needs, and I have experience helping children and adolescents through symptoms of anxiety, depression, ADHD, anger, trauma, and general stress. I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship with the client and using an individualized, strengths-based approach are both key aspects to a successful therapy experience. I also have speciality working with amateur athletes struggling with confidence, frustration tolerance, and performance anxiety. I am a clinical social worker with experience with adolescents and young adult populations, and with topics such as anxiety, depression, self-esteem, academic challenges, life transitions, and school avoidance. I have worked in partial hospitalization & intensive outpatient programs, foster care, and outpatient hospital treatment settings. I gravitate toward cognitive behavioral therapy techniques in order to challenge and interrupt difficult or disruptive thought patterns that can keep clients stuck in overwhelming moments. I also have some experience with motivational interviewing, behavioral activation, and dialectical behavioral therapy of which I bring into sessions. I always use a client-centered treatment approach to establish safety and trust within the therapeutic relationship, as well as strengths-based treatment to highlight the tools clients already have available to them. I provide a supportive environment for my clients to share struggles, challenges and goals which I believe is essential to growth and the work we will do in sessions.

I also have a wealth of knowledge on IEP’s (individualized education plan) and can be an additional support to parents and their children going through the process and understanding their rights. I use a strength based approach with my clients, in addition to a variety of therapeutic techniques. I will also use my personal and professional experience to help parents navigate the challenges that arise during the various stages of parenting.

As a Counseling Director in a high school environment, I am uniquely qualified to provide therapeutic services to families navigating the education system. I bring 25 years of related and varied professional experience to my therapy practice, in high school, community college, health care, and university settings, overseeing residence halls, new student/family orientation, academic advising, and leadership programs. With course facilitation in a counselor preparation program for the past 10 years, I stay current in the field of counseling. Teaching has always been a part of my work, and I often integrate this into my counseling practice. My academic background provides a foundation for me to assist clients with executive functioning, including organizational, prioritization, and planning skills. With direct experience in career counseling, I am passionate about helping clients navigate career choices and effectively market themselves. One of my favorite quotes about uncovering a career choice is from Dr. Will Keim, “find something you love, find something you do well, and find a way to get paid for it.” The priority is on finding a meaningful career. An additional emphasis for my counseling practice is assisting clients with various life transitions. I have experienced living in different cities, working in different environments, living with changing family structures, including an aging parent and a foreign exchange student. Aligned with the words of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. “If you can’t fly, then run. If you can’t run, then walk. If you can’t walk, then crawl. But whatever you do, you have to keep moving forward.” I believe in motivating clients to self-reflect and change in meaningful ways. Related, I utilize a solution-focused model of therapy, collaboratively creating solutions so clients can find options that work for them, often fulfilling the role of a cheerleader for clients, and building a level of rapport, so I can provide feedback in the paradigm of a “critical friend”. Personally, I have benefitted from counseling for career exploration, for a marital “tune-up”, for navigating family challenges, and for fostering authentic relationships. My husband and I have cultivated a partnership with an understanding of the Five Languages of Love, embracing that “Encouragement requires empathy and seeing the world from your spouse’s perspective. We must first learn what is important to our spouse. Only then can we give encouragement.” As a parent of three adult children, I continue to use Love and Logic in my approach, emphasizing that children need the opportunity to reflect on choices, to make mistakes, and to learn from the consequences of their choices. My authentic self is engaged, animated, and loves embracing laughter. My goal as a therapist is to help you find a sense of balance and clarity in your values. To do this, our conversations will focus on the language and meaning in the stories of your lived experience. Sometimes it can be difficult to find words that accurately convey our thoughts and feelings. I have over a decade of experience in arts programming so you’ll be welcome to communicate through other mediums in addition to talking. Drawing, writing, film, and music are just a few examples of creative expressions that we can explore. In addition to pursuing an M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Northeastern Illinois University, I’ve spent much of my career working with youth and teens in non-profits and higher education. I’m also a former basketball and soccer athlete and familiar with the challenges that can come with that identity. When I’m not counseling, I’m usually reading, watching sports, or at the beach with my dogs, Steve Martin and Buster.

I am currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Loyola University Chicago. The most important thing to me is to create an open, safe space where clients feel comfortable to be their authentic selves. In my past professional experiences, I have worked in schools as an intervention specialist, substitute teacher, and as an after-care teacher. I am devoted to helping individuals of all ages through their hardships or just be the person they can count on to be kind to them. Through my work experience, school experience, and personal experience with therapy, I have found that the three most important things to the therapeutic relationship are trust, comfortability, and feeling listened to. I am currently pursuing a Master of Social Work at the University of Michigan–Ann Arbor, specializing in mental health, integrated health, women’s health, and trauma. As a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor I have had the opportunity to work in community mental health settings as well as school counseling settings prior to joining the team at MSC. Throughout the various settings that I have practiced in, I have observed a universal desire for connection and understanding. This is the foundation for my practice as I strive to create a space for clients to explore their authentic self in a supportive and non judgemental way. I believe that the therapeutic relationship is at the foundation of this, and it is through this relationship of mutual respect and trust I help my clients navigate their emotions, identify areas of change and growth, overcome obstacles, and build meaningful relationships. I utilize a variety of approaches when meeting with clients, tailoring interventions to the needs of the person I am meeting with. Some of the modalities that I draw from include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Informed Care, Person-Centered Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and mindfulness approaches. I have a special interest as well as years of experience in working with clients who have experienced trauma, and I am currently completing training for certification through the Trauma Research Foundation in Traumatic Stress Studies. Other areas of interest that I work with are depression, anxiety, grief/loss, ADHD, self esteem issues, and relationship issues.
