Crisis Interventions & Assessments
At Main Street Counseling, we know how overwhelming it can feel when your child is in crisis. That’s why we partner with schools to make sure students get the help they need quickly and compassionately. Our program was built in collaboration with school social workers, with one clear goal: to ensure students and families have access to timely, professional crisis assessments and support.

Crisis Assessment Inquiry
Program Overview for Schools
Supporting students in crisis is one of the most important, and most challenging, responsibilities a school carries. Our team of licensed therapists specializes in suicide and mental health risk assessments to help schools identify, evaluate, and respond when a student may be in danger of harming themselves or others. With the passing of new legislation in Illinois requiring schools to conduct mental health risk assessments, the need for trained professionals has never been greater. Main Street Counseling partners with schools to meet these requirements and ensure every student receives a thorough, compassionate, and professional evaluation
We recognize that every school community has different resources and levels of support, so we offer flexible partnership options tailored from our:
Full-Service Model
Our licensed clinicians come on-site to conduct suicide and safety risk assessments for students identified by staff. We provide documentation, recommendations, and collaborate with the school team and families to ensure safety and continuity of care.
Referral Model
Students can be referred directly or indirectly to our practice. Within 24 hours, a risk-assessment trained therapist meets with the student for a full evaluation and provides treatment recommendations such as outpatient therapy, intensive outpatient (IOP), partial hospitalization (PHP), or inpatient psychiatric care (IPU).

Why Partner with Main Street Counseling?
Our clinicians bring extensive experience from inpatient psychiatric units, therapeutic day schools, school socail work, and private practice, giving us the expertise to conduct thorough risk assessments and communicate results in a way that empowers both schools and families.
Just as importantly, our program was created by, and with, school social workers. By handling the time-intensive process of crisis risk assessments, we allow school-based staff to stay focused on their students, classrooms, and long-term support, while knowing that students in acute distress are being evaluated quickly and compassionately.
By partnering with Main Street Counseling, schools gain a trusted resource to meet state requirements while protecting both their students’ wellbeing and their staff’s capacity.
