Hello

My name is Michelle Trudeau. I am a licensed clinical social worker, and certified parent coach.  I am in the process of completing training for certification through PSI (Postpartum Support International) in Perinatal Mental Health and Mood Disorders. I started my career as a school social worker then became a part of the Main Street Counseling team. While I continued to work with families at MSC I found my passion for specifically helping mothers. I then became a new mother myself!

Motherhood can be beautiful and exciting. It can also feel isolating. In a recent study, over 40% of new moms reported experiencing overwhelming feelings like anxiety, stress, and tiredness.

From my own experience and clinical background I developed the New Moms Support Group. A space for moms to connect and learn together. My goal is to create a community where moms can find connection, support and information.

New Moms Support Group

Sept 3rd - Oct 8th | Tuesday's 10 - 11:30am - In-person at the Park Ridge office

Jan 14th - Feb 18th | Tuesday's 10 - 11:30am - In-person at the Park Ridge office

Jan 16th - Feb 20th | Thursday's 10 - 11:30am - NEW virtual option

This group is a space for connection, support and advice to help you ease into this amazing, exhausting, & exciting life as a new mom. We will share about our experience as new moms and hear from experts in development, feeding and sleep. All members who attend this group will have access to our MSC moms closed facebook group.  This way we can all continue to support each other.

In this space we will:

  • Share about our experience as new moms

  • Gain support from & connect with each other

  • Learn relevant information on child health, development & parenting

  • Decrease our anxiety & increase our self confidence

Each week will focus on a specific topic. Some weeks we will have guest speakers joining the group to share their expertise on a specific topic. We will adapt the programing to the specific needs of the group members but below find a list of typical topics covered:

  • Building Baby Bonds - learn techniques to deepen your connection with your baby

  • Emotions Associated with New Motherhood - learn about perinatal mood and anxiety struggles, self-care strategies and how to effectively build/use support systems

  • Sleep Solutions - learn how to set healthy sleeping habits for your baby

  • Returning to Work or Staying Home - Feelings associated with both

  • Relationships - Changes in relationships, learning about Fair Play

  • Postpartum Pelvic Health - Learn from a pelvic floor specialist and discuss intimacy after having a baby

WHAT PAST GROUP MEMBERS SAY

Mother Holding Baby

I truly can’t recommend enough! This group was more than I ever expected — the best part was making new mom friends who are always there to lift you up. If you’re a new mom I promise this is something you absolutely won’t regret.

The friendships I made from this group are absolutely amazing. Michelle leads a professional yet fun support group. My son is almost 2 and I still got so much out of this group!

It's hard to take time to do anything for yourself  as a new mom but this is definitely worth it! I loved it so much & wish we could do it all over again!

2nd Time Moms Support Group

Jan 23rd - Feb 13th | Thursday's 1 - 2:30pm - In person

You’re not a first time mom anymore but this is still hard!

Everything isn’t new but adjusting to caring for a newborn again can come with its own challenges. Some things may seem easier this time around, some may be more challenging. Having a second (or third or fourth) child is hard in a different way than your first baby may have been. What hasn’t changed is that you will still need a community of support and we are here to provide that. â€‹â€‹
