Dr. Kathleen Edmier
Psychologist & Board-Certified Behavior Analyst
B.S. in Psychology; B.S. in Criminology
Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology
As a licensed clinical psychologist and board-certified behavior analyst, I have a passion for working with children and adolescents with developmental disabilities and their families. I earned my doctorate in clinical psychology with an emphasis in child and adolescent clinical psychology at Adler University. I completed my doctoral internship and postdoctoral residency at Marcus Autism Center and Emory University School of Medicine, where I gained substantial experience working with autistic children and their families, particularly those impacted by significant language and communication delays, behavioral difficulties, and feeding challenges. As a psychologist in the Skill Acquisition program at Marcus Autism Center, I specialized in providing early intervention services for young children on the autism spectrum.
My clinical experience includes providing behavioral and cognitive-behavioral therapy with children and adolescents with developmental disabilities and social-emotional concerns. These include autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disability, global developmental delay, and ADHD, as well as co-occurring anxiety and depression. Utilizing evidence-based approaches, I strive to empower parents with strategies they can use to help their child develop social, communication, imitation, play, coping, and adaptive skills, as well as address behavioral concerns. In addition to providing therapy, I am also experienced in conducting comprehensive psychological evaluations for autism spectrum disorder. Utilizing a collaborative and strengths-based approach, I support children, adolescents, and their families in gaining deeper self-understanding and insight, as well as provide recommendations for therapeutic and educational supports that promote continued growth, development, and well-being.
My Focus: Autism, Intellectual Disability, Global Developmental Delay, ADHD, Early Intervention, Psychological Evaluations
