Sean Hynes, LSW
Child & Adolescent Therapist
B.A. in Economics, Minor in Spanish
M.A. in Social Work, Specialization in School Social Work
In my former role as a school social worker, I strived to provide therapeutic services that met my
students where they were at, building on their strengths and interests, in order to address their
goals and challenges in a collaborative approach walking alongside them in their growth and
development. I have experience working in elementary and high school settings providing
individual, group, and whole class sessions addressing areas such as social communication
skills, impulse control, emotional regulation, grief and loss/separation, and adjusting to new
environments, particularly for newcomer students. In addition to my work in schools as a social
worker, I have experience in teaching and coaching at the high school level.
My clinical background includes working with diverse student populations experiencing
challenges related to ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, developmental delays, anxiety,
depression, and immigration-related stressors. I am well-versed in navigating the Individualized
Education Program (IEP) process, supporting students and families along the way from the
initial evaluation through service implementation.
I utilize a strengths-based framework, and tailor my interventions to promote client’s
independence and ability to self regulate. I incorporate evidence-based practices such as
cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), social skills training, along with incorporating play therapy
and mindfulness techniques. I believe that every individual comes to therapy with a unique set
of experiences, identities, skills, and interests. As such, I will tailor my work to the needs of each
individual, and create an environment that is empathetic and non-judgemental, empowering
clients to share openly about their struggles, think creatively about means of addressing these
challenges, and ultimately making progress towards your goals for therapy.
My focus: ADHD, Autism, Self-Esteem, Grief/Loss, Trauma & Stress, School Related Issues
